Our Analytics team is a fast paced, dynamic team responsible for the financial aspects of client management, making a meaningful contribution to the management of our clients’ benefits plans. The Senior Benefits Analyst is a key team member who applies underwriting guidelines and practices, contract knowledge and their experience and best practices in working in a group benefits environment in order to prepare recommendations for risk assessment and to establish pricing for the group plans we manage.

You are seeking an opportunity where you:

  • Collect, analyze and interpret life, disability and health care data

  • Analyze claims, estimate future plan costs and develop pricing using in-house tools

  • Assist with the management of employer group benefits plans including, analysis of financial reports and rate setting, negotiating with insurers, review and revision of policy and benefit wording, calculation of the cost implication of plan redesign, facilitating the marketing of the plan and assisting with carrier transition when required

  • Produce high quality work that requires great attention to detail

  • Embrace change and shift priorities on a dime without flinching

  • Make connections with our clients and plan members, as well as your fellow AQ team members

A well-matched candidate for this role has:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, Group Life and Health concepts, benefits and practices, including self-insured arrangements, pooling arrangements, Multi-Employer trusts and flexible benefits programs

  • A special place in your heart for plans that are complicated or multilayered or have their own unique set of challenges you get to know and love

  • Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills

  • Excellent PC and Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communications skills

  • Ridiculous time management skills and is able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment; you live and die by the deadline and like your lists

  • Your CEBS designation, or are working toward it; you have a “never stop learning” sort of philosophy

  • Integrity, honesty, and excellence in muffin making
